Israel’s Eco-Force

According to this month’s Monocle magazine, Israel’s Air Force is going green! Right now the nation’s flying aces are in the early stages of developing a solar powered energy system to provide juice for Air Force bases Israel-wide. The move would save several millions of dollars from the Air Force’s $25 million annual power budget with electrical output coming in at roughly 50 kw/h. The station will be located at Israel’s Nevatim Air Force Base in the southern desert near Eilat — and the Ministry of Defense is currently accepting proposals from qualified green developers. If executed, the solar-powered bases would be the first of their kind in Israel.
Good work!
