Kung-Coiff Master

Mizu is the new hair-care salon from Elan (son-of-Vidal) Sassoon on Manhattan’s Upper East Side. Sleek and contemporary, the salon is already luring well-locked locals due to its roster of top-tier talent including 20-year hair-vet Damian Santiago, formerly of Bumble and Bumble. Santiago is a pro with the sheers, displaying ample dexterity culled from both the salon floor and the combat floor. Turns out that when not at Mizu trimming the tresses of socialites and celebs, Santiago can be found on the mat at the NYC Kendo Center where he is a champion Kendo fighter. Santiago has been practicing this ancient Japanese martial art for almost as long as he’s been cutting hair and while the duo endeavors might seem incongruous, Santiago says both are about practice and discipline and a strong sense of focus. We certainly hope so.
