Fancy in Philly

041006_priceycheese_hmed_730ahmedium-1 While the era of the luxury burger appears to be over in NYC — at least for now — Philadelphia is still bullish on five-star simplicities. Case in point: the $100 Philly Cheese Steak (above) at Barclay Prime. Although not new, it is new to us — and warrants further inspection thanks to its fancy add-ons, ranging from goose liver to truffles. The meat itself is…of course…Kobe beef…which is accented by melted Taleggio cheese, shaved truffles, sauteed foie gras, caramelized onions and heirloom shaved tomatoes on a homemade brioche roll brushed with truffle butter and squirted with homemade mustard. Posh!
