On the Verge
According to a recent New York Post article, New York City is on the verge of losing its lucrative film and television business. Indeed, due to an end to tax-incentive programs, film and tv crews are now nearly gone from NYC streets. Along with being bad for their bottom line, local production studios (such as Silvercup in Queens, above) say this troubling development is bad for the city as well: The industry supports 12,000 local jobs and pumps some $2.7 billion into local coffers. A petition is now being circulated to compel Albany legislators to step in and keep the cameras rolling. Good luck.
