Bauhaus by the Beach

Despite its origins in Nazi-era Germany, it is Tel Aviv that can proudly boast the world’s most comprehensive collection of Bauhaus architecture (see above).

The stuff is everywhere!

Nowhere more so than at Tel Aviv’s new Bauhaus Museum, which opened in the middle of last year. Located in the heart of the city — which celebrate its 100th anniversary this spring — the bijoux museum is overseen by art big-wig Daniella Luxembourg and owned by the make-up millionaire Lauder family.

The Museum is private and small — and one of a clutch of tiny museums popping up worldwide offering an enriching alternative to the Louvres and MOMAs of the world. Read all about them in this week’s Time International.
