Cuba Guinea-Bissau
Last week it was Guinea causing us grief, now our attention has turned to neighboring Guinea-Bissau, where President Joao Bernardo Vieira (above right) was JUST killed by gunman outside his home earlier today.

According to this report, Vieira’s gunning-down was in retribution for his purported role in the bombing death of the nation’s army chief of staff last night.

The tit-for-tat violence has resulting in Guinea-Bissau closing its borders as worries mount of a full-scale coup in the former Portuguese colony. Military types say it’s unlikely. But like the rest of the region, the country is suffering from instability due to the the presence of South American narco-militants whose money and power have reached the highest political echelons.
