Dead Sea Scrolls Scam Uncovered

A six-month sting has led the the arrest this week of 49 year-old Raphael Haim Golb, whose father was famed Dead Sea Scrolls scholar Prof. Norman Golb of the University of Chicago.

Apparently, junior Golb felt that his professor pop wasn’t getting fair props for his decades of research on the 2,000 year old parchment documents — which describe the lives of Jews and early Christians during the time of Jesus.

So Gelb fils created dozens of bogus websites to hype his father’s scholarship and further his name and legacy.

Then he was arrested.

The younger Gelb has now been charged by the Manhattan District Attorney’s office with identity theft, criminal impersonation and aggravated harassment, and faces a maximum of four years in prison if convicted.
