SAY HELLO TO: Scuderia

We’ve been dining between downtown Manhattan’s Bar Pitti and Da Silvano for years — the latter usually on expense-account meals.

And why not? Perennially celeb-packed, relatively affordable and comforting-yet-tasty, the restaurants always deliver just what we desire: Quality Italian cooking in a fun-filled, demi-fab, seen-and-be-scene ambiance.

Now the action is moving across the street with the debut this coming Monday of Scuderia — the new low-key Italian joint by Leyla Marchetto, daughter of Da Silvano-owner Silvano Marchetto.

Silvano-the-younger launches her first solo project with help from Papa, as well as former Da Silvano general manager Alessandro Bandini and the musician/man-about-town Fabrizio Sotti (all above).

At its bar, eight foot-long chef’s table and banquette, Scuderia will serve Tuscan goodies like roasted brick-flattened Cornish hen and skirt steak alle tre salsa, along with a couple of unexpected American classics including a Monterey Jack Beef brisket burger and a rosemary-speck grilled cheese. Paninis, pizzas and pastas will also be in effect. And it’s all courtesy of bello-faced chef Claudio Cristofoli — formerly of Cipriani Downtown.

A launch menu is available now, brunch begins in the coming weeks and the wine list is mostly Italian — and affordable.

As for Scuderia’s retro-groovy soundtrack — it comes courtesy of partner Sotti himself, who is releasing his fifth album, Inner Dance, later this summer. We hear Scuderia may even do double-duty as a live performance venue if/when Sotti feels particularly frisky.

Prego!
