BIG IN JAPAN (1): Ski Slope Toilets

Exciting news out of Japan, where the folks over at Georgia Max Coffee — one of the nation’s ubiquitous canned coffee brands — have gotten into the toilet design business. As evidenced by the photo above, the firm has taken upon itself to design the toilets at numerous Japanese ski resorts.

Launched last month as a crafty brand-building device, the new loos are an extreme take on alternative aesthetics — replacing conventional white walls with wrap-around ski slope views complete with printed skis on the floors and (of course) the requisite automatic butt washing technology.

When users sit on the toilets, they get an unexpected alpine panorama.

Created in partnership with indie creative firm Tugboat, Georgia Max has discreetly placed their logo on the toilet-paper dispenser, done up in yellow and festooned with the brand message: “Seriously kick-ass intensely sweet for the real coffee super zinging unstoppable Max! Taste-explosion!”

Let’s hope that’s the only explosions taking place in these new W.C.s
