NEEDS YOUR HELP: Retired Race-Hounds

We were greeted at our cousins’ house last night not just with Passover cheer — but a pair of massive greyhound pooches. Seems as if our family has a new-found affinity for sleek canines, two of which they adopted from Long Island Greyhound Transfer.

The Hicksville-based non-profit helps find homes for greyhounds that are literally cast away following the end of their racing careers. Apparently, some 30,000 such pups are abandoned every year — mostly left to starve and die after reaching the end of their careers.

Organizations such as Greyhound Transfer help place these truly majestic creatures in loving homes to save them from this senseless slaughter.

It’s good work indeed!
